about us
Two practitioners, not theorists, have designed this course after nearly 30 years combined management experience. Having both been involved in the start up of one of the most successful UK companies of recent times, BSkyB, we are confident that we bring a wealth of practical knowledge and experience to this new training enterprise.
“I wish I'd known that earlier...”
We appreciate the essential value not only of good management but of good management advice. Informed by first hand experience, not theory, this course is a starter pack for new management and supervisory positions, designed from the “I wish I'd known that earlier” point of view. We don't consider this advice exclusive to those roles and we have certainly benefited throughout our management careers by adhering to these maxims. We just wish we'd had this knowledge from the start.
about the tutors
Nick Reeve spent the first twelve years of his career at the BBC; after a short spell at TV.AM he was asked to join Sky TV in time for its launch and spent the next seventeen years accumulating a wealth of experience and an enduring commitment to recognising and nurturing ability.
Nick was responsible for six departments, six managers and some 140 staff. He was instrumental in setting up Sky's successful scholarship scheme and lectured at various universities. He mentored many staff and managers, often acting as unofficial consultant for sister departments. His hands-on approach ensured he was in constant touch with his managers and the problems they encountered with their staff.
With little previous management experience and no time for any formal management training in the early stages of his career, Nick can empathise with people in a similar position. He recognises the need for relevant training at the optimum time.
Maggie Cammiss comes from a media background which brought her to Sky at the same time. From the outset she worked closely with Nick and her positive attitude and flair for organisation was quickly recognised. In her role as departmental head, she was a major contributor to the growth and development of an integral department and a flexible and approachable manager.
In their varied careers, Nick and Maggie have experienced management from both sides of the fence. They have seen what works and, more importantly, what doesn't. They know that creating a positive, can-do atmosphere is of paramount importance in the workplace and that fostering an optimistic and upbeat culture pays immediate dividends and delivers effective results.
Nick and Maggie now draw on their joint expertise to present a reliable programme of people management, which they believe will enrich the working experience and help companies develop their staff relations.
